How I targeted and sold my shirts to the ideal customer on socials and in-person

Personalising marketing material is the most successful strategy to engage with customers.The best success I saw with this was creating ‘caricatures’ of the average customer for a certain product – like the typical Taylor Swift fan, or the typical Kobe Bryant fan. People enjoyed seeing caricatures of themselves in a playful and light-hearted fashion, being able to relate to the shirts even more.

The opportunity came to sell in-person to my target audience at Sneakerland 2023: the basketball, sneakerhead-loving individual.The stall I ran with my friend was wildly successful, selling out almost the entirety of my stock and achieving $6,500+ in sales in a single day. We were by far the most popular vendor, with a customer I vividly remember saying “you guys have the best shirts, hands down.
