My weird wish is to sing Whitney Houston and hope that the signage in Tokyo’s subways slightly improve.

Breathing life into an article for climate-conscious readers

To improve my motion and illustration skills, I had to take this class. The brief required students to design a suite of web illustrations for a speculative client, Atmos magazine. This included one hero image and three spot illustrations.

I distilled the article’s narrative to focus on the capitalist view of time—a construct driving humanity toward climate doom.

After rounds of feedback and inspiration from Batman comic illustrations, I anthropomorphised time as a totalitarian dictator to visually communicate the author’s central idea of paralysis and impending climate collapse.

Despite my initial doubts, seeing an animation bring the article and my illustrations to life was a deeply satisfying outcome.
